Jillian Homecoming 2010

Jillian was on Homecoming Royalty and was totally robbed of the crown. ;) I was able to travel to St. George to see her and to do her hair for the dance. The parents escorted the Royalty members onto the track during half-time for the Homecoming Football Game. She looked amazing!
The following day was the day date and dance. Dad, of course, was on hand the threaten her date into behaving properly (as if that was a problem, he is a good guy!)

Jillian went with Kendall Wilkey, his dad Rex and our Dad were mission companions so it was just kind of funny that they went together. Jillian, of course, looked amazing (even wearing her Converses)!
Jillian has wanted to wear pearls in her hair since Jocee wore them to a dance and they looked incredible against her dark locks.

Every time there is a dance we always stage a photo of the girls (be it Jordanne or Jillian) pinning the flower on their date but every time I end up pinning the flower so the date doesn't bleed from the girls tender ministrations. This time the staged photo didn't turn out (Jillian looks stoned) and I accidentally ended up in the photo while pinning the flower on.

I am glad I was able to be there to see Jillian looking all grown up!

Jordanne Homecoming

I realize that I am WAY late in posting this. Before we left for Hawaii Jordanne made Homecoming Royalty. She looked beautiful and dad was the proud father down on the field during the Homecoming football game. I have to admit I was impressed that all of the of the girls on the royalty, except one, were wearing modest dresses (of course the girl without the modest dress on won). Two of Jordanne's friends made the royalty also, Whitney and Sara.

Dad found out about the royalty first and the early morning breakfast, where they wake the royalty up and take them to breakfast in their pajamas, was Friday, the same day D.J. got married. Poor Jordanne was woken up early, dragged to breakfast in her pajamas and taken to school where she then had to leave to come back for the wedding festivities. She was not expecting it so it was a great surprise for her.

Jordanne's date was named Jordan also so it was Jordan and Jordanne going to the dance together. We all laughed at that. Jordan is a Sophmore and this was his first formal dance. He was a nervous wreck, it was so cute! When he was putting the corsage on her wrist his hands were shaking.
Jordan's father was being made a bishop the following day so his mother made him come back to hishouse with Jordanne so all the extended family that were visiting for the event could see her. As Jordanne came walking into the house she said, "Don't you look pretty, and your dress is modest. Thank you for being modest!" I guess she was really worried about Jordanne's dress.

I have to admit I was pretty proud of her hair this time. Jordanne showed me a music video on YouTube of Taylor Swift in "Love Story" and asked me to do her hair like that. I think I am pretty close. Of course it is not hard when she starts off as beautiful as she is.

Lachelle Junior Prom

Lachelle had Homecoming the same weekend as D.J.'s wedding so I was able to go and do her makeup before her date picked her up. Kim did her hair and Sharlene her nails. She looked fabulous!

Her date tie-dyed his shirt to match her dress and it looked perfect. If you look closer at one of the photos in the slide show you will see Colby's face in between Lachelle's and her date. It made her date laugh. Lachelle had to miss some of the day date because of her dance rehearsals for Nutcracker. (More on that to follow in a December posting.) As you can see, Bentley was very helpful with the whole beautifying process!

Sharlene was kind and gave Jillian her tickets to the rodeo so Jill dressed up in her cowgirl attire while we were there and we dropped her off. The seats were three rows behind "cowboy central" and Jill and her friends had a blast ogling them.

Senior Ball 2008

Jordanne went to Senior Ball with Spencer Finch. Since we had used a flower in her hair for the last formal dance, we decided we wanted to do something different so we used feathers this time. Jordanne said that at least 10 girls had flowers in their hair at the dance, she is such a trend setter, and I anticipate that the same thing will happen at Dixie because of Lachelle looking great at her last dance.

Jordanne started the day out by taking the ACT test for several hours (the college placement exam) followed by a day date of skim boarding on the Virgin River. I keep hoping that one of these dances she will not be sunburnt, but so far that hasn't happened. This time she wanted a before and after photo so everyone could see how well she cleans up. She looked beautiful, as usual.

Lachelle Junior Prom

I traveled to St. George this past weekend with Kim, Colby's brother Lyman's wife and their son Bentley, to help Lachelle get ready for Junior Prom. As you can see, they make a very striking couple and Lachelle looked fabulous!

Lachelle went to Junior Prom with her boyfriend, Jeremy, and had a really good time. Jeremy borrowed a sweet classic car to take Lachelle to Junior Prom. Richard, being the over-protective father that he is, was not content with the condition of the car and pulled out his air compressor to adjust the level of air in the car's tires. Richard even went so far as the check the gas gauge on the car to make sure that there wouldn't be any problems bringing his beautiful daughter home. Do you blame him for being concerned?!

Junior Prom

Last weekend we traveled to St. George to help Jordanne prepare for Junior Prom. She was so excited to dress up and be pampered. The hair and makeup were courtesy of Jocee and I with Jillian assisting with comments when we were lopsided with the curls. It's hard to believe that she is already sixteen and will be a senior next year. She looks so grown up.

Jillian and I had party plans but she came down with a fever and spent the weekend in bed. Next time we go down her and I are going to play though. Jillian is really busy with her friends and school and is an amazing writer. She is the one who wrote Mom's obituary (with a little help) and it was beautiful.
