Bentley is Two!

On Saturday we got to help Bentley celebrate his second birthday. It is hard to believe that he is already two! He LOVES Thomas the Train and can identify all of the trains by looking at their faces. Bentley received lots of trains and once he opened the first one he wasn't interested in opening any other presents, he just wanted to play with the train.
Bentley received a Safari track with battery operated SUVs. Notice in the photos that Bentley isn't there and all the adults are putting the track together to play with. Bentley was behind me playing with his trains. When Bentley tried to play with his train on the track, all the boys (meaning men) grabbed him because he was going to make the SUVs crash. Later the boys were good and let Bentley play with his own toys. :)

My husband the handy-man :) Bentley received a tool set that required some assembly. Colby, instead of waiting for Lyman to grab the real hammer, just started putting it together using Bentley's new tools. (Yes, that is a plastic hammer in his hand) and he wonders why I don't let him do handy-man projects around the house unsupervised...
It's hard to believe that two years ago we were visiting Bentley in the NICU, praying that he would last long enough to get the surgery he so desperately needed. Bentley was born with a herniated diaphragm, in lay-man's terms he had a hole in his diaphragm that allowed is intestines and other organs to move up into his chest cavity, causing his heart to be shifted to the side and one of his lungs to be deflated. Within days of being born the doctors performed surgery to fix the hole and put everything back where it was supposed to be. Bentley did amazing and you would have no idea he had such a rough beginning except for his wicked cool scar on his chest. (Yep, he has cool scars to show the ladies when he gets older) He has been nicknamed Superman and it is very fitting. Happy Birthday Bentley!

Wow, time sure flies doesn't it?

I love how as parents we buy toys that we'd like to play with and pretend they're for the kids! lol

I can't believe how old he is. I still remember reading the posts about him in the NICU. He's such a cute little boy.
